R. (Ronnette) Virginia Smith Biography

Ronnette is a Senior Manager, Issue Management and Strategic Outreach for the Walmart Corporate Affairs team. Smith builds relationships with third parties, outside coalitions, and is involved in the communication of grassroots messaging to both internal and external audiences. She has direct responsibility for the 50+, Disability outreach and emerging leader outreach. Smith joined the company in October 2006
Prior to her current role, she actively worked to set strategy for the company’s diversity outreach and social investments in the 50+ and the American Indian and Alaskan Native markets. In 2011, she was ceremonially draped for her contributions to Native American communities across the United States.
Ronnette was a part of the team responsible for the enrollment of 1.25 million people in a one year to Walmart Humana Prescription Drug Plan, which was a new innovative Medicare Part D prescription drug plan with the lowest national monthly premiums to date.
She brought to Walmart 15 years experience in performance management and outsourcing with AT&T, consulting expertise with Accenture and team building work experience in Canada, Philippines and interface with bi-lingual operations serving Asian, French, Russian, and Spanish languages.
Ronnette has a Master’s of Science from John Brown University. She also studied Organization Behavioral Management at the University of Phoenix. Her bachelor degree is in Public Relations from Clark Atlanta University.
Ronnette is a board member of the American Association for Care giving Youth, business advisory board member with the National Hispanic Council on Aging and the US Business Leadership Network. With personal care giving experience as a youth, she brings a unique understanding of inquiry and advocacy to any responsibility.
Smith writes and has been the recipient of literary awards. She enjoys photography, biblical studies, snorkeling, dancing and island hopping. She is single.
