Charles Brown, PhD Biography
Charles is the Vice President for Student Affairs and was appointed to this position in September 2006. Dr. Brown came to Florida Atlantic University from the University of South Florida, St. Petersburg where he served as the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. In addition, he served as the Vice President for Student Development and Campus Life at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and as the Senior Associate Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Dr. Brown received his B.A. degree from Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois and his M.S. and Ph.D. from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. He has served as an Associate Professor of Education, teaching courses in the Higher Education Administration Program. Dr. Brown’s research interests are student leadership development, diversity, and other student related issues. He is a past participant of the Harvard University Management Development Program and maintains active membership in several professional organizations and honor societies.
