Scholarship Preparation and Opportunities

Step Up For Students administers five scholarship programs for Florida Schoolchildren:
  • Florida Tax Credit and Family Empowerment scholarships for lower-income families
  • Gardiner Scholarship for children with certain special needs or unique abilities
  • Hope Scholarship for public schoolchildren who are bullied
  • Reading Scholarship Accounts for public school students in grades three to five who struggle with reading

The following scholarships are available to high school SENIORS:
 
Alliance of Women Executives (AWE)
Application Deadline: April 11, 2021
Criteria:
 
  • Be a young woman graduating from any Palm Beach County High School
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA 
  • Provide a recommendation letter from a teacher or guidance counselor
  • Provide the first page of her high school transcript 
  • Provide an acceptance letter from Florida Atlantic University or Palm Beach State College 
  • Must complete the Scholarship Application and Authorization form
  • Write a 500-1,000 word essay to answer this: What ethical dilemma and/or hardship have you faced and how have you handled it?
Community Foundation for Palm Beach & Martin Counties
Application Deadline: January 31, 2021 at 11:59 pm.

Criteria: $1 million in scholarships available each year to high school seniors, college and nontraditional students from Palm Beach and Martin County schools.
 
Eda & Cliff Viner Community Scholars Foundation
Application Deadline: March 8, 2021 at 11:59 p.m.
Criteria:
  • Non-weighted cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Completed 100+ hours of community service
  • Must be attending a Florida Public College or University
  • High School Senior who attends one of the following Community High Schools in Boca Raton and Delray Beach:
    American Heritage, Atlantic Community, Boca Raton Community, Donna Klein Jewish Academy, Katz Yeshiva, Olympic Heights Community, Saint John Paul II, Spanish River Community, Village Academy of Delray, West Boca Raton Community
George Snow Scholarship Fund
Application Deadline: February 1, 2021 @ 5 p.m.
  • Must be a high school senior at one of the following: Any Palm Beach County High School, Blanche Ely, Pompano Beach, Marjory Stoneman Douglas
  • Demonstrate financial need, self motivation, strong educational and career goals, involvement in school or community related activities

SeniorCare Aging Matters Scholarship
Application Deadline: May 15, 2021
Criteria:
  • Existing college student or incoming freshman (to be enrolled in the Fall of 2021 in good academic standing)
  • Attending any two or four year accredited college or university as a full-time student
  • Complete and submit the application form, which includes a 1,000 word essay on why Aging Matters to the applicant.
